About Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in China and beyond, often bringing relief where other treatments couldn’t. Acupuncture works by stimulating specific points in the outer layers your body that are connected via your meridian system to internal organs or other parts in your body. It is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine's central concept of Qi, which is the energy of life itself, the balance of Yin and Yang. In Chinese tradition, Qi flows through everything in creation.

After thousands of years of being successfully used by oriental medicine to treat a number of conditions, the world’s medical establishment has noticed acupuncture’s effectiveness. As a result of its surging popularity in the United States and abroad, acupuncture is now a staple of treatment methods.

There are a number of scientific studies into acupuncture's efficacy for a wide range of conditions. The 2008 National Health Interview Survey found an estimated 3.1 million U.S. adults and 150,000 children to have used acupuncture in the previous year. It also found an increase in acupuncture use by approximately 1 million Americans in the preceding five years.
